The Clockwork Society

The key – The Rules

by TINCS on Jul.29, 2011, under Puzzle

This blog isn’t really hard to find. And it’s open for everyone who looks for us, you don’t even have to solve this to believe in your heart you are a Disciple of the Clock.
However the Clockword Society (which does not exist remember!) needed a more secret place, where it could discuss it’s future plans and this was not the place.
THEY could be watching this.
There is a forum, somewhere waiting for the most dedicated members.
No don’t be afraid. The Society is not a guild, we don’t require any commitment but work along with us. However we can’t trust anyone and I’m sure you understand this.

So to prove yourself worthy you’ll have to find the answer to the riddle below.
DO NO POST THE ANSWER ON THE BLOG send it by PM to TINCS on the official forums or email theclockworksociety. (gmail)

Do not fear to work together in groups, get to know eachothers, get to find new ways to the answers.

This riddle is also here for you to have fun resolving it. There is no specific message behind it, it’s just a small test so we know you’re ready to know more about the Society. It doesn’t reflect our beliefs, focus on the way to resolve it not on what it means.
However please don’t give away the answer, we don’t want THEM to find it.
Here is the riddle:

At the end we start
U: F 264 96 132 24 180 312 288 144 132 312

Good luck to you all and hope to see you there !

Edit: Right now 64 of you have found the way. Grats to them.
Update Sept 2011: The riddle has been updated, old one is still valid if you want something harder

Yes…it’s the Illuminati week. I guess they couldn’t pass the chance of overshadowing the anniversary date. Happy Friday 13th Templar friends, it has not always been grim.

The Clock has answers.

by TINCS on Aug.21, 2011, under The Secret World

A few game infos from disciples of the clock
General:
-The build shown at gamescom is the same as for E3 a few months old.
-Yes they are still working on animations.
-Target audience is 16+ so no gore, no fatalities and no nipples on characters.
-Dynamic lightning in the game (drop a light and it’ll lengthen up around you)

RP:
- you can’t drop items in the gameworld
- you can swim, run, sit
- there is a club right now in game where the more people dance the louder the music gets and the wilder the lights go
- Tons of emotes overall but no “light a cigarette without hands” yet ;)
- No beers in game yet but they have glasses so it could be easy to add if players want it.

Character creation:
- There are races (so not just skin color) and they are non restrictive
- Same or less options than AoC for character creation (might want to avoid sliders that make some bodies look weird)
- One faction per server (so no two chars of different factions on the same server)

Lore & story:
- Ragnar wrote enough story for years of content.
- A Friend will be in game but not as A Friend and we won’t know who he is.
- The story is going to make us wonder “what the heck is happening?”.
- The Giants are more like trolls really.
- There is no “time travel” at will. This means that some story missions will have us go to change things in the past but we won’t just be able to go in the past anytime we want. And the range of time travelling is I understood limited (so not thousands of years ago so far)
- Metro station dungeon is in the past not the future actually.
- Nothing will be done to stop people from using Spoiler sites or crank up gamma in dark dungeons. That’s their problem.

Server Segregation:
- Not really in the hands of the devs but there is no real limitation to it. Basically they made a test and had around 100ms ping with east coast so it’s not a big deal technology wise but it might be more of a problem for pvp esp for the permanent one where they want to avoid having to put max limit of players on servers for it to be playable.
It’s however probable that the same model as AoC will be used (if you want to play on US server you have to buy an US version of the game) but again this is all speculation.

Polaris & Dungeons:
- The main girl is holding a lighter in her hand when she switches to fire magic
- The hive like wall is just a one way wall (no loading) to avoid pulling the boss back out of his area.
- There will be traps, crumbling walls and the like in dungeons, they try to surprise players everytime.
- It’s not the goal to have lengthy puzzles in dungeons. They won’t reset everytime you enter, the point is more or like come back later after you have done the research rather than make everybody wait in the middle of it to find the answer.

Mounts & transportation:
- No Mounts at release (doesn’t really fit the secret war in a modern world part)
- There will however be a transportation system (don’t know which one) where we’ll see us moving (so not only talking to an NPC and zoning)
- Agartha has mobs in it BUT they are neutral by default. It’s however possible that some people are not neutral to them anymore *grins*

World:
- The 3 regions (made up of several playfields) are around 4 times the size of the biggest zone in AoC (so quite big)
- Each city has it’s faction specific bar, London has more social elements.

Pets:
- could not get any information on it but it was not a clear No.

Content:
- Pocket content is definitely something they are thinking about but there is no plans for it now, right now the focus is what they have build and make it shine and solid.
- Content does not scale to your strength, a zombie stays a zombie even if you get stronger
- This means that if you are very powerful and go back to do polaris you could potentially do it with less players
- Faction advancement quests are solo (like the one they showed the press in the parking lot with light)
- The biggest monster in the game might be the T-Rex (but it might also be that it hasn’t been revealed to use yet)
- The goal is not to grind content to the bone to have access to the next step however there are definitely zones we won’t be able to go from the start.
- Once you have started raiding there is little reason to go back to say Polaris except if you just wanna do the experience again.

Combat & skills:
- There are different kind of snares, there are knockbacks
- Some monsters will require a specific skills to be defeated (like a monster attacking very fast that you’d have to interupt or a monster moving very fast you’d have to snare)
- There is no ammunition per se, all is about magic (there could be a silver bullet passive skill but that’s just a modifier)
- There are very few faction specific skills 90% will be available to everyone.
- A few cars can be blown up but most just don’t take damage (decor)
- Some mobs will die if you lead them in certain places.

Items:
- There is already A LOT of clothing items in the game and the best of all is that all the clothes you have will be organised in a wardrobe where it’s all sorted by type and you just click on the one you want to wear.
- There is a preview for clothing (forgot to ask if it’s just preview of the cloth or on character)
- There is a monocle we can buy for 60$
- Some items directly go into a useable inventory item slot (like the torchlamp) so that you don’t have to open inventory to use them.
- There will definitely be more different weapons and sledgehammers ;)

Death:
- Corpse run in Pve (think Wow) we do not really die
- Time reset in Pvp (every 30 seconds the whole faction deaths reset)

PVP:
-You get tokens from doing pvp.
-There is no pvp xp nor specific incentive for the permanent PVP aside from the faction bonus.
-There is a pvp map of the permanent pvp so you can see at all times who it belongs to
-The pvp map can belong to one faction or none (so even if two factions attack the third one they can’t share the bonus)
-There is no “pvp gear” per se as you have the uniforms.
-No open world pvp.

The Clock shows us the way!

by TINCS on Jul.06, 2011, under The Clockwork Society, The Secret World

Tick!

Just for those who worried that there won’t be enough clock in TSW we can be reassured now. We have proofs that the Clock will be in and even more that it’ll lead the way.
5 years people have been clamoring about the power of the clock.
Ain’t it good to be right?

Thank god there is no clockwork society!

You’re an animal Viskvotiz

by TINCS on Jan.04, 2011, under Puzzle, Theory

The Fool’s Journey has started, Apis posted on the official forums:

Communicating with you via these forums may seem foolish; and yet strangely apt given the circumstances. Allow me to explain briefly.

Our Sanctuary of Secrets has been compromised, the static has corrupted all our communication since Aveline crossed the threshold. Hence our silence. After all, there are matters of extreme consequence that require our attention. This game – a simulacrum of the true world beyond the veil – may seem like a adolescent fantasy to most of you. It is in fact, as real as it gets for us who believe.

This begs the question. Why do we reach out to you once again?

You see, Melissonomoi has seen the future and it is bleak. Indeed, “Dark Days Are Coming”, and despite our best efforts nothing will stop them.

Yet hope remains. She believes that amongst you are the “ones” that will be integral in a “new beginning”. And despite the risk that we’re exposing ourselves to, she has made it our task to seek you out.

11 of you will be chosen throughout 2011. The ones we seek.

11:11

So consider this an invitation. A prologue if you will. Melissonomoi has seen a new path, a way for us to communicate again, only this time with allies united by a common purpose. It is the path of The Fool, oblivious to the perilous chasm ahead, heading into the unknown and unafraid.

Her recent visions each have a common name that binds them together. And this name holds the key. A new cipher. A way for us to communicate directly with you in times to come.

Find this name. You’ll need it by the next monadic cycle.

——————————————————————————–

This lead to a key “Viskovitz” (full details here) but we’re still looking for the right lock. 11 people will be chosen, a few. Why eleven? As usual many questions left unanswered.
